Facilitation of Conference & Workshops

Introduction

In its contribution to knowledge management and sharing information critical to building sustainable partnerships between communities, VEDAMAN Consultants Ltd. has facilitated (or contributed) a number of conferences, seminars, workshops and consultations. These vary from professional meetings to farmer consultations.

The approach VEDAMAN uses to all facilitations has been PARTICIPATORY.

Projects Undertaken:

  • Workshop on the Role of Private Animal Health Service Providers in Disease Surveillance and Reporting in Kenya (2010).
  • Workshop for Validating ALIVE Feasibility Studies on Epidemiology and Laboratory Networks in Africa.  The workshop participants were drawn from all over the African continent except for a few scientists and consultants from Europe (2009).
  • Workshops on ‘Strengthening Farmers Organisations for Effective Participation in Market Led Economy’ for legislators and farmers organisations within Eastern Africa (2005).
  • Harmonization of Agricultural Trade and Marketing Policies in the Eastern and Southern Africa.  This was a forum bringing together policy and lawmakers from seven Eastern Africa countries to deliberate on ways and means for improving negotiation skills of the regional representatives at the World Trade Organization (November, 2003).
  • Organised and facilitated the Conference on Food Security and Sustainable Development for Parliamentarians from English Speaking Africa (2002).
  • Facilitated Small Scale Farmers Convergence.  The workshop brought together farmers from all over the country to interrogate, communicate and shape their operational context and destiny (2002).
